We passionately believe in our food at Port Charlotte Hotel. We also believe you need to feel good to enjoy a great dining experience to the full.

Our restaurant, lounge bar and conservatory are all about making people welcome, comfortable and feeling at ease.

If you are coming to stay with us – we do encourage you to book dinner or supper in advance, as the hotel is very popular with both our guests and locals.

Lunch is served in our bar, with evening meals being served in the restaurant and bar suppers in the bar or conservatory overlooking the beach and Loch Indaal.


Cuisine and menus
The food is certainly among the best on the island, a lot of people say its the best on Islay. If you're eating in the restaurant and manage to get a table on the sea side you also get a beautiful view with your meal.

Local produce, freshly prepared to order and served in elegant surroundings is the central theme of the restaurant. Apart from its world-renowned single malt whiskies, Islay exports some of the best seafood in Britain.

Since this is immediately ferried off to London and Spain, Islay's fresh lobster, crab, scallops and oysters can be hard to find on the island itself, although the hotel's menus have a good selection.

So you can expect beef, venison and lamb from local farms, game, including woodcock and red partridge from island estates and scallops, lobsters oysters, crab, langoustines and prawns from the Islay fishing fleet to feature on the menus.

Quality vegetarian dishes are always a feature, as are a selection of fine wines from around the world from Inverarity Vaults who recently were awarded U.K. Restaurant Wine Supplier of the Year.

The public bar serves bar meals and has some of the finest malt whiskies in the world for you to sample.

Packed lunches are also available on request.

Cellar and bar
The Port Charlotte Hotel won the National Whisky Pub of the Year 2009 award! Islay is obviously famous for its whiskies, now it can also boast of the best pub for it! We won it for our ‘ambiance, choice of whisky and friendly staff’, something we hope everyone who's ever visited us can agree with.

As well as our whiskies, we also always have 2 local ales on tap from Islay Ales.

The heart of the hotel, and perhaps the village, is the bar that serves a delicious well-balanced menu at a reasonable price.

The range of whiskies is naturally enormous and the staff knowledgeable and friendly: The locals are welcoming with great craic. Complete with an open fire this is the place to relax and connect with the island.

The bar also has traditional music sessions as a regular feature; these have a distinct Scots/Irish influence, sometimes accompanied by Gaelic singing.
