Islay is the most southerly island of the Inner Hebrides and can be reached by car ferry from Kennacraig on Kintyre (2 hour journey). Loganair provide 2 scheduled flights each weekday (3 in summer) and 1 flight on Saturday and Sunday from Glasgow Airport to Islay.
The Port Charlotte Hotel is a family-run 4 star hotel located in a charming, beachside location in the conservation village of Port Charlotte, approximately 35 minutes drive from either port and 25 mins from the airport.
Car & Ferry
Travelling from Glasgow is approximately 3 hours drive to Kennacraig on the west coast of the Mull of Kintyre. The ferry leaves from Kennacraig and arrives at either Port Ellen or Port Askaig about 2 and a half hours later. (it does not matter where you dock - either is about a 30 minute drive from the hotel along beautiful routes talking in the coast and the countryside.) There are up to five ferries a day in summer. It is possible to arrive from Oban (via Colonsay) some days of the week, but please check timetables.
